Introduction

Virtual machines like:

- VMware Player ®
- VMware Workstation ®

enables you to run a 'computer' inside your computer.

To make this work you need to build appliances which works within the virtual machine. This can be done by anyone who has basic knowledge plus documentation for each virtual machine and above all time and patience.

NO dual booting risking your production OS and NO hassle running a LiveCD.

What users say:

I just wanted to tell you that your VMware Virtual appliances are not only very useful but are the best VMs that I have ever downloaded. Most of them work perfectly without any changes. - Ollie Deex USA

Thanks for your f7.vmx! I'm new to Linux, and now I can play with it without any fear. I'm an embedded systems developer, and my first steps with f7.vmx have been to make cross-compiled kernel. - Ignacio G.T. Spain

Just to say thanks and say it works fine on VMWare fusion on a MacBookPro - Graham Marshall

Great opensolaris vm... worked much better than my ubuntu build for smb filesystem shares. Incidentally, FYI, I ran it with 512MB of mem on an AMD K8 64 HP(ish) machine running XP and it seems to work really well. - Dave E Lloyd

I just wanted to say something nice about your virtual denoam system. I downloaded it and started it in my VMWare Workstation and it works just fine. I am blind and therefore this preinstalled and ready to run vmwares are the best for me to test some things and get a ready to run system and does not need to ask anyone to help me in order to install and configure it - this way I just need to start it and ask someone to help me to login on the console and then install the braille driver package and I am ready to do the rest on my own.
Thanks very much for this great peace of work!
Ginger B. Claassen Benhauserstr. 11b 33100 Paderborn

Thank you so much for your virtual appliances. What a lifesaver. Especially for those that don't behave well when trying to install vmware tools. Thank you.
William Kinser

I was directed to you by a VMWare tech on your ProTech One appliance. He was answering my question about forensics within and on a virtual environment. It was most enlightening.

Latest Releases

General
All appliances have been compiled with VMwareTools installed allowing for movement of the mouse freely between host/guest, free setting of screen-resolution (xorg.conf modified with VMware), cut/paste and drag/drop between host/guest is tested and works unless otherwise specified. ALL our appliances (bagvapps) are slightly customized with our own wallpapers and desktop set-ups mainly to suit our own taste and for branding.

We test each and every appliance on 2 different computers and 3 host platforms (FSC Scaleo H -Intel D, 3GB RAM with XPSP2-3 and XPSP2 MCE and Acer Ferrari Laptop (AMD 64) 1.25GB with Vista Ultimate).

The bagvapps works on VMware Player 2 series and Workstation 5-6 series. We do NOT test on VMware Server and have reports that in some cases there are problems to get appliances working there.

Ubuntu 8.10 alpha 3 "Intrepid Ibex"
Early Ubuntu 8.10 with GNOME 2.23.3 Desktop and kernel 2.6.26-4-generic. This one has been modified by disabling and blacklisting the snd_pcsp module as otherwise the Ubuntu alphas so far don't even start from the login-screen in VMware. Otherwise this appliance is pretty close to the original however the linux-headers has been reinstalled as VMwareTools refused to build/compile on the original setup. VMwareTools e.x.p-99530 has been installed (they are from workstation 6.5 beta), other versions had issues during install. There is a bug /amongst others) in Ubuntu 8.10 alpha which causes a Logout to GDM when you try to Shutdown or Reboot from the Gnome Desktop. Once at the Login screen you can Shutdown or logout there. ... Read more about this here.... The virtual disksize is 14GB whereoff 2.8GB is used presently for the appliance. 588MB RAM is allocated for the VM and the download is 672 MB. Disksize 12 GB whereoff 5.7 is allocated presently to the appliance. Set at 624MB RAM and the download-size is 1.36 GB. Gentoo has grown on me and I kinda like it these days although the install/building is quite time-consuming as is expected on a truly source-built distro. I have left a substantial amount of applications to be installed by the users themselves so this is a good VM to use for those who really wants to get their hands 'dirty' building thir own Gentoo.
